Hello, and welcome!

I have spent over thirty years designing, developing, and implementing supply chain solutions. Throughout that time, I've seen a lot of technological shifts, but the recent explosion of Artificial Intelligence—specifically Generative AI—has completely inspired me to re-evaluate what is possible in our industry.

This blog is a place to document my journey as I explore how the latest AI technologies can be practically applied to modern supply chain management.

• Generative AI : Exploring practical, real-world ways to use generative AI. I strongly believe the adoption of these models is the real world is at a very early stage and the way they will be used is going to evolve at an alarming pace. Taking inspiration from tools like Claude Cowork, Librechat and others coupled with my own practical experience in implementing technological advancements ideas in a real world context for solving supply chain problems a large part of this blog is going to center around this.
• Optimization and Design in the Supply Chain: Exploring the use of GenAI and other deep learning and Machine Leaning models to solve supply chain problems. Initially focusing in the execution space, but inevatably drifting into the planning space. I believe an inevitable result of advancements in AI and the increased amount of change and being pushed.
• Business Intelligence (AI-Enhanced): Having graduated with a degree in Maths and Statistics many years ago I am still fascinated by numbers, trends, pulling information and actions out of raw data analysis. Many supply chain activities like planning, continuous improvement, and exception identification and management are grounded in data analysis, The application of different forms of AI to these areas and how we make this manageable and usable in the real world.
• SQL & Database Optimization: Real-world query optimization, and how AI coding assistants can change the way we interact with our databases.

What's Next

Stay tuned for regular reports and updates featuring:

1. A new, extendable, multi agent and multi model harness focused on monitoring and exploring business processes.
2. A new take on the user interface, moving from an enterprise application focus to a user and process focus.
3. Building machine learning models for distribution center optimization.
4. Using LLMs to translate natural language into complex, user-intuitive database queries and data exploration.

There will be a mixture of technical and supply chain posts, I have always believed a strong appreciation of technology and the real world problems is critical to solving these problems. If some of the deeper aspects of either put you off, please stick with it, shoot me a question. Please also feel free to make suggestions, be critical, and let me know what you think. Thinks rarely change in isolation and thoughts and ideas feed off each other.

An important point worth noting, the ideas, comments and opinions are mine, although I do work in the industry my work here is very personal and independent of my employer and any other affiliations I have. Please don't blame them or read anything into what I am writing here.
